Y14 Contessa
Update Nov 7, 2016: Y14, now “Contessa,” is restored. She made the road trip from Berkshire Wooden Boat in Pittsfield, MA to her new home at Chautauqua Lake.
Have learned that old boats require a lot of good friends pitching in with time, talent, and equipment.
Can’t wait for spring!

Y 14 Contessa, is now sailing on Chautauqua Lake, NY, and has drawn a lot of attention and photography by onlookers. We love the boat!
I have a 1945 professional half-hull model of Starling Burgess’s Yankee One-Design I would like to sell.
I think a fair price would be $200 including the shipping./Users/neilson/Desktop/IMG_0102.jpg
Hi Neilson,
Do you still have the half model of the YOD for sale? If so, I’m interested. We have Y-29.
We just saw Contessa ghosting along on this beautiful fall day. Took lots of pictures. Having grown up in Niantic, lots of beautiful boats like this came out of the Quincey Adams Boat Yard. I crewed on a QA 24 built there for the Dupont children, 7 of them.
Gary, Thanks for the note. I’m totally smitten by this Yankee. I’ve raced my Thistle at Niantic a few years ago. You’re welcome to contact me about sailing. Please send or post a picture you took. HubbellThomas at USSailing dot net / Tom
Got the chance to sail on Contessa this past summer on Chautauqua Lake. I don’t know a lot about sailing but I can say that she is a beautiful boat. The restore work did her proud. Looking forward to sailing on her again soon.
Y14, Contessa, has been sailing on Chautauqua Lake for three seasons now (May-October.) She is a delight to sail. She draws onlookers, cameras, and many very complimentary hails on the water.
